Venice does not stop there when giving anglers the opportunity to catch a variety of offshore species in a day’s outing. The beautiful deep blue waters surrounding Venice allows for bottom fishing, trolling and live bating for some of the largest game fish in the world.
Locals know it, and fishermen travel from all over the world to fish the many oil rigs located just off the coast of Venice, Louisiana. Over 3,700 oil rigs are located off the coast, and each one is a great structure and fishing region for a day of fishing in the gulf.
The oil rigs serve as manmade reefs and create a great habitat for small baitfish. This in turn attracts larger species of fish. The rigs in shallower waters may sometimes produce a quick limit, while other times it may be better to target rigs in deeper waters located over fifty miles of the coast, especially when looking for larger fish.
Captain Bernie Frueh will take you on a Gulf of Mexico fishing trip to remember, giving you the opportunity to bottom fish for tasty Red Snappers and hard fighting Amberjack as well as trolling for huge Yellowfin Tuna, delicious and lightning-quick Mahi Mahi, and more. A variety of techniques will be used depending on the conditions and target species, including jigging, popping, and kite fishing.
