Speckled Trout Fishing in Venice, Louisiana
Speckled trout populate the Louisiana Delta and offer action-filled fishing from inshore locations. They inhabit the same locations as redfish and flounders.
Spring (March through May) provides the best speckled trout fishing as they spawn. At this time, locations and feeding patterns are predictable. Specific years and seasons are better than others, all relative to water levels and conditions. Soon after, the summer months can also offer bountiful fishing opportunities.
How to Catch Speckled Trout in Louisiana
Spotted seatrout live at the top of the water column and are most numerous along the coasts of the southeastern states, such as Texas, Louisiana, Alabama, Mississippi, Georgia, and Florida. They are also common along the coasts of North and South Carolina and Virginia. Estuarine coasts are prime settlement areas. They are uncommonly seen north of Delaware Bay and along the coast of Cape Cod, Massachusetts. Speckled trout are most often caught on live baits, but artificial lures are also effective.
